[MACEP] School districts - Do you have a dedicated web designer/developer on staff?

I am in a very small school (Nestucca SD #101) on the Oregon Coast and I
started the webpages here and maintain them for a small salary. The
payment is to maintain the basic structure and some of the pages. We
have turned to PDF's as a way for the average person to update their own
materials without having a web manager for a lot of the materials. For
instance, if the fourth grade teacher wants to send out the spelling
words for the week, he can use Word to create the list, save as a pdf
and he has access to his little section of the webpage server and he can
update that same file over and over again. It works well and many hands
can maintain the page efficacy.

At Pleasant Hill School District, we contracted with a local webpage
designer/hoster for creating a new version of our website (which I
designed, starting in 1995), since my website was not "modern enough".

So, HeroWeb designed a site with what they considered important. I
suppose it's efficient, but I have trouble, at times, maintaining a
site
that's NOT WYSIWYG in nature. I "fill in boxes" that the site then
puts
where IT wants it to go with ITS formatting. Grumble Grumble. They
pay
me for two hours a day to maintain the website, posting things
principals and others send to me from the two schools. For the other
six hours of the school day, I volunteer my services to help teachers
in
the classes I've taught over the last 47 years: chemistry, physics,
photography, world history, Latin, German, Italian, and calligraphy.
Or, I'm available as a Very Last Minute Substitute when the sub who was

SUPPOSED to arrive, has not. I've often taught the students'
GRANDPARENTS and I've been accused of being a vampire (very white skin,

and the picture of me in their grandparents yearbook looks the same).
