[MACEP] CHROMEBOOKS NOT CONNECTING TO WI-FI

Could you be running short on IPs and the Chromebooks get used later in the day, when most of the addresses are already taken? And maybe your iPhone is working with a lease it got earlier in the day?

I'd try grabbing the MAC address of one that's not working and search for it in your DHCP logs. See if it's even hitting the server, and if it's producing any errors.

Update. Some are now connecting. They devices that aren’t connecting are getting a little exclamation point next to the wi-fi symbol in the tool bar. I can’t get around that. I can’t ever get our wifi “logon” page to show. No username or password is required, users just hit submit.

Our wifi access in the district is not open to all so the Mac address of the Chromebooks has to be added to the radius to use the network….

No, they won’t connect to other AP’s.

So ... they were all fine before the break and now they're not fine.

All 30 still do fine on other Access Points you've taken them to, around the building?

Well the Christmas break gremlin got us.

Many of the 30 Samsung Chromebooks we have in our high school science department won’t connect to the wi-fi in our science building or in other buildings. My iPhone connected no problem. I reset the AP, still no luck.

I know that’s a very brief explanation of the problem but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks and Happy New Year.

IS there any authentication that is required? If so what methods are being employed?
