[MACEP] DISTRICT/SCHOOL WEBSITE CREATING/HOSTING

Hi,

Darrin: I still have to do manual posts across multiple school sites
because I've been too lazy to figure out how to program that feature - but
I think it can be done.

Alex/Anyone: I am willing to help you do the Design work for a Google Site.
It can be done anytime if your GAFE Cloud is live (and it will show up when
you do the DNS change), and it would probably take us a day away from
teachers and students to hammer out the site in your GoogleSpace. My fee
would be enough caffeine to keep me going to the end of the day ;-). I
don't know how to do everything, but my web experience goes back to the
Mosaic browser (can you say Gopher server?). My kryptonite is Photoshop -
but I can hack away with Irfanview for what I usually need in the graphics
department. I would say it took me a week to really get the Design set and
a week to get the Development in place. Now that I have a year's worth of
content in the Sites, I will take a few days this summer and realign
folders, pages, etc. to what will work more betterer (and more gooder, too
:-).

All: I did some shopping for Google Sites help before I took on the task,
and most people were giving me bids in the $3K - $5K range for the Design
and Development work. I did contract with one developer for a site mock-up
- and when I saw their product I realized that I knew more than they did -
and I am not a pro web developer. My conclusion was that most professional
shops don't do Google Sites as part of the usual offerings. There are Sites
templates out there for download and purchase - but I could never find a
really decent one for what we wanted.

Cheers, Mike
