[MACEP] Best Kid Software

Hi Everyone,

I'm tutoring a 3rd grader who, due to health concerns, can't be in the
classroom until next fall. I'd like to be able to recommend some
software (math, specifically, but I'm open to anybody's "this program
would be dynamite for a learn-at-home student!") to the family.

The other motive I have for asking is that my own daughter is finishing
1st grade and I'd like to lay out some money ($90?) buying good software
pieces for her. Two boys are in pre-school and will follow in their
sister's footsteps, so I'm happy to lay down money for good software.

I'm more interested in new software than old, but some oldy-but-goody
recommendations wouldn't be terrible, either. Are new versions of
Reader Rabbit or Carmen Sandiego better than the old ones? Anybody have
ideas of software for me? Can you pass my email along to someone who
knows kid software?
~Tim
