Well, never heard anything back from this group OR from Apple, but this 
morning I had a pop-up informing me that there was an update available 
for Quicktime.

So I downloaded it, (version 7.4.5) and loe & behold, that pesky "Image 
Sequence" problem is no longer an issue! (or so it would seem). They 
even fixed the FPS pull-down so that its scroll arrows are normal.

CASE (hopefully) CLOSED!
