Auto 101 Introduction to Workflow Automation and Scripting on OS X

Course Description
In this 3-day course, you will develop a love for developer tools,
using them to automate your workflow, WITHOUT becoming a full-blown
programmer or scripter (who has the time?). This course empowers you to
use Apple Developer Tools to solve your problems, whether you are a
media developer, a system administrator, or a power user who wants to
automate OS X. You will learn basic, but powerful automation and
scripting techniques that will launch you into the wonderful world of
automation, allowing you to spend more time doing more important things
in life. We will focus on modifying and creating custom automations
with Automator and AppleScript. We will then focus on Property Lists,
the Defaults Preferences system, and launchd, underpinnings to
automation. On day 3 we will focus on AppleScript Studio and Perl. At
the beginning of day 1, each attendee will select some important
real-world workflow problems, and then focus throughout the rest of the
course on solving those specific problems with automation. You WILL be
able to leave this session with the techniques you need to get started
automating (and quite possibly with a working automation you developed
in-class to solve one of your problems). A $100.00 discount is
available when registering for Auto 101 and Auto 201 together!
