Hi Jonathan,

I sent this reply email to your work email address...but thought I
should post it here on the list as well.

Regarding your need for Mac OS 8.6 disk, I have a couple things that
might help.

1. My original system software CD for my old 7200/90
2. A bootable OS 8.0/8.1 disk I made
3. A bootable OS 8.6 disk I made

I guess like you, I'm too am not sure why I've held on to my 7200 for
so long.

Let me know if any of these disks might help you. I have them sitting
here on my desk. I'm located in Beaverton.

Also, if your interested in parting with your old Mac and equipment,
there is a non-profit outfit in Eugene that an old friend of mine
founded and runs called NextStep Recycling. They will take just about
everything computer/electronic related (as a donation) and re-issue
equipment out into the community for those in need, or recycle for
parts. Everything unused is safely recycled. I'm not certain how they
take donations from the Portland area. You may have to contact them to
find out. Check them out at http://www.nextsteprecycling.org/home.php.

Personally, I'm going to make some inquiries and try to somehow develop
a network between educational institutions here in the Portland area
and NextStep Recycling in order to broaden the non-profit-community
service-environmentally friendly computer recycling services available
in our area. It's a great organization and endeavor.

Subject: [MACEP] Arrgh, need 8.6 or 8.1 OS to borrow

Murphy's Law & my hesitance to part w/ my Mac 7100 struck
simultaneously.

I was cleaning up the 7100, finally going to post it on Craig's list or
dispose of it in some way. (Yes I'm still living in the stoner ages, or
in my case the Stoner ages.) Cleaning files, software, etc. and ran
Norton Disk Doctor one last time. In the middle it crashed. Of course I
had just wiped clean my external back-up hard drive and sometime in the
last 7 years, between a move overseas & back I have lost not only the
sys 8.6 disk I had but the original sys 7.5? disks that came with it.

So, I know I can download 7.5 from Apple but I'll be forever swapping
disks & I had a smooth running 8.6 OS until yesterday.

Is there any MACEPER who could allow me to borrow a CD or send an disk
image to me, so I can get this 7100/80 back up prior to its departure
from my domicile? Anyone interested in it? I can throw in a modem,
QuickCam, external HD & oodles of software.
