Hi Everybody:

During the past six weeks, I have begun some new projects that are
apt to keep me busy for the rest of my life. The projects are all
gathered together in a non-profit company named Information Age
Education. Some of the work on the project is being conducted through
the 501(c)(3) non-profit children's museum, the Science Factory,
located in Eugene, Oregon.

The home page for the Information Age Education (IAE, or iae)
organization is at
  http://i-a-e.org/

Much of the work that has been accomplished so far can be accessed
from the page
http://iae-pedia.org/

There you will see documents that fall into a variety of categories.
You will notice a strong parallel between the design and structure of
the IAE-pedia (the Information Age Education-pedia) and the
Wikipedia. They both run on Media Wiki software.

At the current time, the Wikipedia has about 4 million articles, with
about half in English. The IAE-pedia has about .00001 times this many
documents, and most of them are just small starts of documents.

I am actively seeking people who will volunteer to contribute
materials and/or to edit materials. Remember, this is volunteer
work. The materials will be placed under a Creative Commons license
and made available free to readers.

If you are interest, contact me or just go right ahead and begin
writing and/or editing.

To write or edit articles in the IAE-pedia, you will first need to
log in. This requires you to provide a user name, a password that you
make up, and your email address. This information will be required
from all people who write and/or edit articles.

Once you are logged in and are viewing an IAE-pedia article, you can
click on Edit (near the top of the page) to go into edit mode for the
whole page. Or, you can click on Edit to the right of a section
heading to go into edit mode for that section. After dong the
editing , additions, and so on that you want to do, click on Save
near the left, bottom of the page.

If you want to create a new page, begin by reading some of the
relevant materials listed in the Contents box of http://iae-
pedia.org/ Then start at the search box on the left side of an
existing IAE-pedia page. Key in a short title for your new page. Here
are two illustrative examples:

Media Literacy for Third Graders

Search Engines for Primary School Students

Click on Go and you will be taken to a page that tells you either
that this is a new title (which is what you hope) or that a page with
this name already exists. If you have created a new title, then the
directions tell you where to click to begin writing the content of
your new page. You can write new materials, and you can cut and paste
in materials you already have available. You will want to save your
page from time to time by clicking on the Save button near the bottom
left side on the page.
