I have experience running Linux terminal servers and thin clients. They are
excellent for student lab use and state online assessment testing. The set
up is a lot less expensive than a Win set up and you can use older PC or Mac
hardware as the clients. If that route over the Windows route is of interest
to you, I would be glad to be of assistance.
