We had to go to every computer in the school and install the converter
of 2007 so that when our students used 2007 at home, they could convert
to our Office 2003 Pro. So far it has worked very well.

Subject: RE: [MACEP] Office 2007 Upgrade
Hi Theresa,
I think the changes are dramatic enough to cause confusion among
staff/students. There is also the problem of backwards compatibility:
Office 2007 isn't. Its extensions are 4 characters (.docx, for example)
instead of the 3 from Office 97-2003 that everybody's used to. Unless
you change the default document save to Office 97-2003, users without
Office 2007 will be unable to read those documents. Microsoft does offer
a free reader for non-Office 2007 Windows computers. (A version for
Macintosh is supposed to be available someday.) As far as I could tell,
all the old features in Word and PowerPoint 2003 are still present in
Office 2007, they're just organized differently. (Differently enough,
I'd say, to trigger the need for doing some retraining with staff and
students.

Hey Everyone,
Our school district is looking into upgrading our high school PCs this
summer
with Office 2007.
Anyone have any issues with 2007....does it play well on your
networks...any
bugginess that is annoying enough to just
stay with an earlier version? Are the changes significantly dramatic
enough
to cause confusion among staff/students?
let us know your thoughts!
Thanks,
Theresa Broeren
