[MACEP] openmoffice writer ???

Howdy all,
Does anyone know how to "Lock" text in a template so it does not move when 
you add text behind it?
I want kids to fill in a form. If they fill in their name, it move the next 
word over as in period #
I'd like to know how to do this in Word also. I can save a a template, but 
the text still moves. There must be a way to prevent this.
