Sounds like it is a DVD software issue. I have seen this using PowerDVD
software, once I updated the software the issue went away.

Subject: [MACEP] Fw: [DTAC] DVD/CD drive problem

Hello All,

Here is a puzzling query from a colleague on my ESD Tech list. Thought
some of you might have some ideas.

I'm sure it's a Windows Laptop, as that's the standard in this
particular district.

TIA,

Roseanna

Has anyone had a similar problem to this? I have a fairly new laptop
computer with DVD/CD drive that will not play DVD's. It has DVD decoder
software installed and all the neccessary other software to make it
work.
However, when a DVD is played, I get a black screen like it's working,
but no picture, and the sound works! Sometimes I get the error message
of "create overlay failed, please lower your screen resolution or color
depth and try again." I've tried that many times, but to no avail. Any
suggestions? I've read numerous online knowledge bases from Microsoft to
Sonic to HP with no resolution.
thanks, Pat_______________________________________________
