Hi Tricia, I have several districts testing Google hosted apps. So far
we've had good feedback. Using Google docs and the calander features
alone is worth do this in my opinion. It costs only $10 a year to
register a domain and try it out. I've created portal pages using the
Google web page tool to make it easy for students to use the system.

I think that using web 2.0 tools in schools is a good thing. Another
Google feature I like is Safe Search. See
http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/customize.html#safe for more info.
If your network is using proxy servers for Internet access, you can
redirect all searches to use Google safe search.
