If you have QuickTime on your Mac or PC, try going to
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technologies/qtvr/gallery/trees.html
click in the middle of the trees and then hold down the mouse button and move
the picture right, left, up, down. Then try pressing the control key or the
shift key for zooming functions.
Apple.com maintains a whole gallery of really cool photos done in QuickTime VR.
I have made some, using Canon's Panorama program for system 9.2.2 (and
earlier) but haven't done any in OS-X. You need something that will "stitch"
overlapping photographs. When saved in the Quicktime .mov format, they become
QTVR. My few efforts can be seen on
http://www.pleasanthill.k12.or.us/phillold/Schools/High/quicktimemovies.htm
To really get the QuickTime VR Cubic format, I've seen hemispherical mirrors
that can be placed in front of a SLR digital camera to capture a whole scene
in fisheye look that the software stretches out again and formats for
QTVRcubic.
