[MACEP] free web page hosting for students

Omigosh! I didn't mean to create such a controversy!

My goal is for students to have an opportunity to create and post web pages.
Not to "get around" blocking policies, but simply to provide students with
the ability to work from both home and school on the same project--and see
the results instantly!

This provides immediate feedback (authentic assessment), strengthens the
connection between home and school, increases the amount of time spent on
higher order thinking skills (evaluation and problem solving), and connects
students with "real world" experiences.

Of course, I also believe that there should be policies in place to protect
both the school and the student, e.g. acceptable use, copyright/plagiarism,
and cyberbullying policies--but these are already mandated by law.

By the way, these are online students--around the state and around the
world--who may be working either from home or school or both. I just wanted
to be able to make a few suggestions on places to post their final projects
because really posting on the Web and "making it work" is true authentic
assessment!

Virginia

PS  This is not a new project for me; I've actually been doing it 10 years;
just hoping to learn the latest info from educators in the field!
