In the old days, I'd say this would make for a good slumbertech topic.
We tried to host a single afternoon MACEP event on Drupal last June
but only had 3-4 people show up. Drupal is one of several easy ways to
setup a podcasting server.

It would also be good to have someone demo different recording setups.
I use an iRiver iFP-899 which goes for about $70 on ebay.

These have a mic in 1/8" jack that will let you record from good
quality microphones or even from a line out on a mixer board or CD
player.

I would be happy to host a  MACEP podcasting howto afternoon if we
could get people to come. We could even offer podcasting server space
although there are several options for doing that. There are even
phone-in podcast creation/serving hosts that are very easy to use.

The Oregon Virtual School District has a phone-in podcast creation
service that is free to all Oregon schools.

So what would it take to convince people to gather for a couple of
hours and have a good time learning how to do some cool stuff and
enjoying the company of good folk? I must admit that I still miss
those good old MACEP Friday afternoons.
