Just wanted to echo the points that Eric brought up in this message,
very well articulated. The phrase I've used to sum up some of the core
points he makes is that "There are no effective technical solutions to
social problems.". Defining and controlling access to "appropriate"
content is a social problem. Attempting to create technical solutions to
social problems is expensive and as their effectiveness goes up,
generally so does the the size and impact of the unintended (and
undesirable) consequences they create.
