go to view, details and see what suffix is applied. Is it a .wav file or??
That may help provide an answer your question.

Good Morning,
I am having great difficulty opening some QuickTime movies. I am on a Win XP machine. When I try to open the movie file I get the following error message: Error 2048: the file is not a movie file.
However, the file is a movie file. It shows with the QuickTime icon, when I check Properties it is listed as: Type of File --- QuickTime Movie. Opens with -- QuickTime Player.
This movie file was originally created about 12 years ago and has been archived on a CD. It was originally saved on a Macintosh as QuickTime file. The file opens with QuickTime on a Mac with no problem.
But, when the file is transferred to my PC via one of our servers it fails on the PC, yet the PC seems to recognize it as a QuickTime file. The file name contains the .mov extension.
Can anyone shed some light on possible solutions?
Thank you,
Thomas Glover
