[MACEP] Internal microphones on iMac G3s

Do they really work or are ours too dusty and begrimed to function? 
I've tried them with both Power point and Kid Pix.  Is there another 
place to change the settings for them?

When I hooked up Labtec USB mikes, they worked fine but I don't have 
enough for all the computers.
